Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and the control you have over your information.
Last updated: August 2026
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how SYVIC ("SYVIC", "we", "us", or "our") handles personal information collected through the website at syvic.ai (the "Site"). For the purposes of applicable data-protection laws — including the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) — SYVIC is the party responsible for your personal information. You can reach us about any privacy matter at info@syvic.ai.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- When you join or ask for updates: your name and email address.
- When you send feedback: your message and chosen topic, and — if you choose to provide them — your name and email address (both optional on the feedback form).
- When you email us at info@syvic.ai: your email address and whatever you include in your message.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting and infrastructure provider automatically logs limited technical information when you visit — such as your IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and the pages you view. This is used to keep the Site secure and running, and to understand general traffic. We do not use this to build advertising profiles of you.
3. How we use your information
- to add you to the movement and send you a welcome message and occasional email updates about SYVIC (only if you signed up);
- to read and respond to feedback and messages you send us, and to improve the movement and the Site;
- to operate, secure, and maintain the Site and prevent abuse or spam; and
- to comply with our legal obligations.
4. Our legal basis
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on: your consent (for example, when you sign up for email updates — which you can withdraw at any time); our legitimate interests in running and promoting the movement, responding to you, and keeping the Site secure; and legal obligation where we must retain or disclose information by law.
5. Email updates and how to opt out
We send email through Brevo (Sendinblue), our email service provider, which stores your name and email on our behalf to deliver these messages. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time — either through that link or by emailing info@syvic.ai. We will still send you essential replies if you have contacted us directly.
6. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the Site, and only as needed:
- Brevo (Sendinblue) — email delivery and contact management. See Brevo's privacy policy for details.
- Cloudflare — website hosting, content delivery, and security.
- Social platforms (X, Instagram, Reddit, TikTok) — only if you choose to click through and interact with our profiles; your activity there is governed by their own privacy policies.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or as part of any future reorganisation of the movement.
7. International transfers
Some of our providers process data on servers outside your country. Where we transfer personal information internationally, we rely on our providers' safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect it in line with applicable law.
8. How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes above — for example, we keep your email on our list until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, and we keep feedback for as long as it remains useful to the movement. When we no longer need information, we delete or anonymise it.
9. How we protect it
We use reputable providers and reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. Form submissions are transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; correct it if it's wrong; ask us to delete it; object to or restrict certain uses; withdraw consent; and request a copy in a portable format. To exercise any of these, email info@syvic.ai and we'll respond within the timeframe required by law. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority (for example, the Information Regulator in South Africa, or your national authority in the EU/UK).
11. Cookies
The Site uses only the minimal cookies and similar technologies needed for it to function and stay secure. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings; blocking essential cookies may affect how the Site works.
12. Children
The Site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, let our subscribers know. Please check back occasionally.
