The rules for using the SYVIC website. Please read them — using syvic.ai means you agree to them.
Last updated: August 2026
1. About these terms
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website at syvic.ai and any related pages, forms, and content (together, the "Site"), operated by SYVIC ("SYVIC", "we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using the Site, or by submitting your details through it, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
2. What SYVIC is
SYVIC is a movement and public advocacy project exploring how data, fairness, automation, and human wellbeing could shape better decision-making — captured in the ideas "work less, live better" and "make technology work for you". The Site is provided for informational and community purposes only. SYVIC is not a political party, candidate, government body, or professional adviser, and nothing on the Site is an official policy, a promise of any outcome, or an endorsement of any party or candidate.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country, if higher) to submit your details or otherwise interact with the Site. By using the Site you confirm that you meet this requirement and that any information you provide is accurate and your own.
4. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Site lawfully and respectfully. In particular, you agree not to:
- submit false, misleading, unlawful, hateful, harassing, or infringing content through any form on the Site;
- impersonate any person or organisation, or provide another person's details without their permission;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to, disrupt, overload, or interfere with the Site or its underlying systems;
- use automated means (bots, scrapers) to harvest data from the Site or to submit forms; or
- use the Site to distribute spam, malware, or any harmful code.
5. Signing up and communications
If you provide your name and email address to join the movement or receive updates, you consent to us sending you a welcome message and occasional updates about SYVIC by email. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by contacting info@syvic.ai. How we handle your personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.
6. Your submissions
When you send us feedback, ideas, comments, or other material through the Site (a "Submission"), you keep any rights you have in it, but you grant SYVIC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, adapt, and share that Submission for the purposes of running and promoting the movement. Please don't send us anything confidential or anything you are not free to share. We are under no obligation to use, respond to, or keep any Submission.
7. Intellectual property
The SYVIC name, logo, wordmark, branding, text, graphics, and design of the Site are owned by or licensed to SYVIC and are protected by intellectual-property laws. You may view and share the Site for personal, non-commercial purposes, but you may not copy, reproduce, or use the SYVIC name or branding for commercial purposes, or in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation, without our written permission.
8. Third-party links and services
The Site links to third-party platforms (for example X, Instagram, Reddit, and TikTok) and relies on third-party providers to operate (for example our hosting and email providers). We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of those third parties, and your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
9. No professional advice
Content on the Site is general commentary about technology, work, and society. It is not legal, financial, medical, or professional advice, and should not be relied on as such. You are responsible for your own decisions.
10. Availability and changes
We provide the Site on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Site, including any forms or features, at any time without notice. We do not guarantee that the Site will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SYVIC and the individuals behind it exclude all warranties, express or implied, regarding the Site. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Site. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold SYVIC harmless from any claims, losses, or costs arising out of your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Site.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of that jurisdiction will have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, though this does not affect any mandatory rights you have under the laws of your own country.
